Food Storage Technique

There is we discuss about how to store food To reduce food waste and retain the quality of food to get optimum nutritional value from it. If we use Good storage habit then we keep the nutrition value of fruit and vegetable. Best way to store food is to follow the “first in first out” principal while storing new food in the fridge or any other storage.

We have many type of pool and the food category is very different type so every food category has different type of storage condition in our following line we discuss about how to store different categories food please read

In the following lines we discuss about different food categories and their storage types .

Fruit and vegetable

Fruits

  • Most fruits are stored at room temperature until they ripen then transform into the fridge. berries and grapes should be refrigerated immediately.
  • Keep banana, Tomatoes and citrus fruit out of the refrigerator to avoid spoilers and loss of flavor.
  • Use huge ventilated container to avoid moisture buildup.

Vegetable

  • leafy vegetables leafy greens should be washed dried and stored in airtight container with a paper towel to absorb moisture.
  • Root vegetable like potato potatoes onions and garlic so we keep in cool dark place not the fridge.
  • Store mushrooms in a paper bag in the fridge.

Dry goods

Grains and cereals

  • Storing airtight container in a cool dark and dry place to avoid pests and maintain freshness.
  • Label container with purchase date.

Floor and baking products

  • Store in airtight container.
  • Whole grain floors would be refrigerated or frozen to prevent rancidity.
  • Baking powder and soda should be keep in dry and cool place.

Dairy products

Milk and cream

  • Milk and creams is stored in coldest part of the refrigerator, Not in the door, we always keep milk tetrapak or bottles.

Always cheque temperature and expiry date of the product and check its seal and make sure it is fully pack.

Cheese or paneer

  1. Hard cheese can be wrapped in wax paper and then plastic wrap.
  2. Soft cheese should be stored in the original packaging or in an airtight container.

Butter

Butter is stored in the fridge for long time storage keep it in the freezer.

Pantry staples

  1. canned goods – Canned goods are stored in cool dark place
  2. Oil and vinegar – Store oil in a cool and dark place. Refrigerate nuts oil to prevent rancidity
  3. Vinegar – vinegar can be kept in a pantry.

Herbs and spices

Fresh herbs – Fresh herbs can be stored in a glass of water in the fridge, like flour or wrap in damp paper towel and place in the plastic bag. alternatively freeze them in olive oil in ice cube trays.

Dried hers and spices – dried hers and spices keep in air tight container away from heat and light.

Beverages

Coffee – Coffee store whole beans or ground coffee in an airtight container in a cool and dark place. For longer storage fridge whole beans.

Tea – tea store in dry dark place in an airtight container.
